Kevin joined the League in 2014. He is a lifetime Bay Area resident; the last 34 years having lived in San Rafael. During his career, he worked for the City and County of San Francisco as Director of the Parking Authority, at the University of California, Berkeley as Manager of Transportation Planning and at BART as the Manager of their Customer Access Department.
In June 2023, Kevin was elected President of the League of Women Voters of Marin County and serves as the Co-Chairperson of its Transportation, Housing and Land Use Committee. He currently serves as Vice Chair of the Marin Coalition and is Chairman of its Program Committee. He serves as the Vice Chairman of Transportation Authority of Marin’s (TAM) Citizen’s Oversight Committee. He serves on the Independent Oversight Committees for SMART and Regional Measure 3 (Bridge Tolls). He is the Treasurer and a member of the Steering Committee of the San Rafael Federation of Neighborhoods and serves as a Board Member and Treasurer of the Marin County Civil Grand Jury Association. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Point San Pedro Road Coalition and serves as its Treasurer.
Kevin holds an undergraduate degree in Business Administration from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Master of Business Administration degree from Saint Mary's College of California.
In 2016, Dee Dee attended the Women’s March in Washington DC. Shortly after that, she joined the League. Born in San Francisco, she was raised in San Rafael. She received her BS in Sociology from Santa Clara University and her Dental Hygiene degree from Northeastern University. In 1980, Dee Dee married Ron (teacher in Novato) and returned to Marin. She and Ron raised two daughters. During that time, Dee Dee was active in their schools: PTAs, Girl Scouts, soccer, and softball, serving in leadership positions. She leads our Z-Team which coordinates our virtual (ZOOM) meetings. Since her retirement as a dental hygienist and computer software trainer, she spends her time working at the Redwood Empire and SF/Marin food banks, working out, and playing pickleball. And, most importantly, she loves spending time with her two grandchildren.
Ann joined LWV in 2013. After retiring from her research position at UC Berkeley, Ann joined the Education Committee which offered new opportunities to pursue her interests in educational policy and equity. Ann was born in eastern Tennessee, and moved to California at age 12. She, her husband, and young son settled in Marin County in 1968, attracted by the county’s natural beauty. Their daughter was born soon after. When the children were young, Ann was actively involved in their schools and group activities, cultivating a life-long interest in child development and education. While raising her family, she earned a B.A. and M.A. in developmental psychology at SF State and, later, a Ph.D. in early childhood special education from UC Berkeley/ SF State’s joint doctoral program. Much of her work as a researcher and educator centered on mathematical development and learning in infancy and early childhood, including promoting ways for families and teachers to support children’s learning through play and everyday experiences. She and John have two children and four delightful grandchildren whom they visit with as often as time and distance allow.
Laurie joined the League in 2012. She moved to Marin County from Rhode Island in 1978, armed with her worldly possessions, i.e. her records and her cat. She is the owner and Managing Principal of Shira Ridge Wealth Management, a Larkspur-based firm that specializes in Retirement Lifestyle Planning and Investment Management, having launched that company after spending 25+ years in corporate management positions in finance and marketing. She is a CFP®, the proud mother of two sons, a dedicated Giants fan, an avid hiker, and an active skier with the Marin Ski Club.
Jackie joined the League in 2017. She served on the League’s Board for two terms beginning in 2018 and was in charge of the Voter Registration and Outreach team. She has been an active member of the Justice and Health Committees.
A native of northeastern Ohio, Jackie lived and worked in Washington, D.C. and New York City, and eventually San Rafael. The U.S. Department of Labor transferred Jackie to California in 1979. She was a Special Agent and the Western Regional Inspector General for Investigations for the department’s Office of Inspector General.
Committed to public service, Jackie remained active following her retirement: serving as a member of the Marin County Civil Grand Jury (2016-17), a poll worker on election days, a member of her neighborhood association, an investigator for departments within the Marin County government, and most recently as a member of the Working Group for Sheriff’s Oversight. She is a licensed private investigator. She is married and has two sons. She loves to cook, read, travel and spend time with her granddaughter.
Becky joined the LWV in 2014, with an interest in supporting the goals of the League, particularly in voter services; she joined the LWVMC Board in 2021. She serves as the Marin County Coordinator for VOTE411.org, the online, unbiased, nonpartisan guide for voters, produced by the League of Women Voters Education Fund. Becky has been a Marin County resident since 1983 so, even though she grew up in suburban Minneapolis and subsequently lived in Nebraska and Montana, Marin is home. She is a member of the Northbridge & Santa Venetia Neighborhood Associations, the American Association of University Women (AAUW), and Wednesday Morning Dialogue. Becky holds a BA in Sociology, MA in Communication Sciences & Disorders, and AuD doctorate in Audiology. Although retired from clinical practice, her career in audiology spans over 40 years, where she served in leadership roles in local, state, and national organizations and authored and co-authored a number of peer-reviewed publications and delivered numerous presentations to professionals and consumers. Becky maintains close ties with family members, who are scattered across the country. She is single and has no children, but loves to spoil her grown nieces and nephews, as well her adorable great nieces and great nephews. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, walking, reading, Qigong Tai Chi, and spending time with friends.
Vida joined the LWV in 2019 and the LWVMC Board in 2021 with a view toward voting and voters’ rights. She has particularly enjoyed working with a group focused on the youth vote in Marin County. Vida grew up in New Jersey, moving to California in 1994 with her husband Jeff after 5 years living and working in NYC. Vida continues to work part-time as an attorney, focusing on contracts and transactional work for smaller companies. Vida has previously served on the executive committee of the local school where her children attended and is currently on the board of directors of Congregation Kol Shofar in Tiburon. She has two young adult sons and enjoys seeing them as regularly as she can. She loves to travel, spend time friends, bike, ski and otherwise enjoy the outdoors, as well as to cook and play wine geek. Vida attended Emory University as an undergrad and Northwestern University School of Law.
Carol joined the League in 2021 with an interest in promoting voter registration and education and was quickly drafted to work on the spring and fall 2022 Candidate Forums. She earned a B.S. in human development/education from the University of Massachusetts and an M.A. in nutrition education from San Francisco State University and worked for various public health programs as a maternal and child health educator before pivoting to become a digital content editor for K-12 curricula and environmental education non-profits. Carol lives in Fairfax, where she and her husband raised their two children. Over the years she has served on school board committees and volunteered for other local nonprofit organizations. When Carol is not out hiking, walking, or spending time with her four grandchildren, you’ll probably find her reading a book.
Jan King joined the League of Women Voters in 2020 with interest in actively supporting democracy. During the 2022 campaign year, she helped the League produce the spring Candidate Forums and the fall Voter’s Edge online voter resource. Jan retired in February 2017 from the Development Department at the Buck Institute for Research on Aging where she served as Director of a donor affinity group. Prior to the Buck Institute, Jan worked in sales and business development in the marketing/communications/advertising fields, with a focus on biotech and healthcare companies. She completed a Bachelor's degree in the liberal arts from the University of Texas at Austin. A longtime volunteer, Jan has served many non-profit organizations, including the People’s Free Clinic and Planned Parenthood in Austin, San Diego AIDS Foundation, San Diego Community Mediation Center, Junior League of San Francisco, and Wednesday Morning Dialogue. Jan is a Texan by birth and a Californian at heart, having moved to the Bay Area from Austin in 1994.
Barbara joined LVW in 2017 and the LWVMC Board in 2020. She serves on both the Transportation/Land Use/Housing Committee and the Voter Service Pros & Cons Team (presenting information about ballot measures). Barbara was raised in the East Bay and has a degree in Criminology/Sociology from UC Berkeley. She studied law at USF and worked for the SF Bar Association’s Lawyer Referral Program and at Legal Counsel for the Elderly in Washington, DC. She held leadership positions in Silicon Valley tech companies, was a consultant to the deans and faculty at Stanford University and had her own consulting business focused on non-profit leadership. She served on the Palo Alto PTA and the SV Board of Women’s Initiative for Self-Employment. In 2012, Barbara moved to Marin, and with her husband, Ken, loves having kids & two adorable grandsons nearby. She has hiked in 40 National Parks, has visited all 50 states, is an ambassador for One Tam and serves on the Climate working group of The Marin Conservation League.
Cindy joined LWVMC in 2018 and the Board in 2020. She was raised in Pennsylvania and after seven years in Washington, D.C., moved to California in 1986 and to Marin County in 1991. Shortly after retiring Cindy learned of the significant presence of human trafficking occurring in the Bay Area and discovered the LWV Justice Committee had a focus on this issue. Being determined to join in the fight against human trafficking, Cindy joined the League. Cindy is a member of the Voter Service Committee, Finance Committee and Justice Committee where she is a League representative to the Marin County Coalition to End Human Trafficking (MCCEHT) and participates in the Public Awareness Committee. A graduate of Chatham College with a B.A. in Economics, Cindy spent her 30+ year career working in the insurance industry. She held corporate management and senior executive positions at AIG and Liberty Mutual. Cindy lives in Sausalito with husband, Ward Fulcher, and loves to sail, hike, opera/theater/the arts and travel.
Nancy joined the League in 2019 and the Board in 2021. She is Chair of the Justice Committee and a member of the League's Voter Services, Health Committee, Observer Corp, and Novato Cohort. Nancy, a social justice advocate since her youth, is currently active in leadership roles with these organizations: Soroptimist International of the Americas (SIA) – served on local, regional, and federation level, is SIA Founder Region Membership Chair 2020-2022 with responsibility for 50+ clubs and about 1400 members, and since 2018 has been honored annually to serve as a Soroptimist delegate to the United Nations Women’s Commission on the Status of Women in New York; City of Novato - Recreation, Cultural and Community Services Commissioner; Marin County Coalition to End Human Trafficking (MCCEHT) – Public Awareness Committee and San Francisco Collaborative Against Human Trafficking (SFCAHT) – Planning Committee; Asian American Alliance of Marin (AAAM) Board of Directors; Marin Council of Chambers DEI Task Force’s Chair of United Against Hate (UAH) Committee; Novato Chamber of Commerce Business Education Committee; Not In Our Town Novato (NIOT Novato) Charter Member. Nancy has a BA in Economics from Rutgers University, is retired from PwC where she managed staff development, keeps a full schedule with advocacy work, and is often a champion for the underdog. She moved to SF after college and to Marin County about 23+ years ago since she enjoys its open space and variety of outdoor activities. Although busy, she always makes quality time for her family and 6-year-old granddaughter.
